David C. Riley-Managing Director

Thirty-eight years years ago, Denver became one baby heavier and the face of theatre was changed forever. Born in Denver a year before the moon landing, David spent the first nine years of his life bouncing around the wild and crazy borough of Lakewood. Transplanted to the woods of Northeastern Washington State, David turned to theatre, sports and anything else that kept his mind from turning to mush. After six years of college and theatre in Seattle, David meandered around the theatrical shadows of America, before ending up in L.A., where he co-starred with Edward James Olmos in "Talent For The Game", and then plunged deeper into the depths of Tinseltown by becoming an executive with MGM/United Artists for five years. David eventually escaped back to Denver where he set up his own Production Company, Homecoming Pictures. With a half-hour left in his days he decided to start his own Theatre Company. Thus, the Denver Rep was born, and has since been taken over by far smarter and much more talented people. David is happy to be finally spending all his money on something he truly loves, and hates..ain't life grand?

Brett Humphrey

Brett was born in Yankton, South Dakota. Enough said? Not quite. Brett managed to stay away from theatre people for a long time. Unfortunately, in this case, not long enough. A college boy who spent six years drinking and taking entirely too many math classes, Humphrey was, unfortunately, way too smart. He was grabbed by Billy Bob Gates and the Microsoft theocracy, where he has since been confined in servitude until Billy can afford another island.

Brett serves on the board with David, Kenny and Edward James Olmos. He will soon grace the boards, having done his time with a hammer and paint brush. If he's not careful, he'll soon be directing, or come full circle like Riley and be assistant to the assistant to the assistant for the assistant who assists the assistants. Brett is the owner of Peaceful Planet Studios, an artistic and modeling portfolio studio based in this very building. Brett has done everything from street photography to landscapes to working with live models. Brett has done the photography, poster design and marketing for all the DRTC shows.

Edward James Olmos-

If Edward James Olmos had followed the first love of his life, he'd have been a professional baseball player. But by age 13, another love entered his life: rock music. By age 15 he was already an experienced rock singer, forming and reforming several "garage bands" along the way. But a friend suggested that, with his flair for the dramatic, he consider a career in acting.

Throughout the seventies he divided his time between rock music gigs, acting classes, bit parts in TV, off-off-off Broadway plays, and his business of moving fine furniture (which kept body, soul and family together). His first big break was a starring role in Luis Valdez's play, "Zoot Suit", in 1978. The play moved to Broadway and led to a Tony nomination, and great critical acclaim. Perhaps best known for his role as "Lt. Martin Castillo" in the NBC TV series, "Miami Vice" (1984-1989), he has been seen in numerous film and TV productions. He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his starring role in "Stand and Deliver" (1988). Most notable of his recent offerings is 1992's "American Me", which was also his directorial debut.

Edward appeared with David C. Riley in Paramount Picture's "Talent for the Game"

Kenny Storms-ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. Joseph Campbell

Kenny Storms, the new Artistic Director for the Denver Rep, was raised in good ol’ Golden, CO. He received his B.A. in Education and Theater Arts from UNC and ran a local production company (Freestyle Production) for two successful years before the Greeley scent and a college graduation ran him out. After meeting David during the run of "Death of a Salesman",  he was inspired to help “raise the bar” with the Rep.

The big question is whether you are going to be able to say a hearty yes to your adventure. Joseph Campbell

After producing and directing "4.48 Psychosis" for the Boulder Fringe Festival he became the newest managing-member of the Denver Rep. He looks forward to helping grow and evolve the Denver Rep into something that the Denver community has yet to see and to becoming part of a great artistic community.

One way or another, we all have to find what best fosters the flowering of our humanity in this contemporary life, and dedicate ourselves to that. Joseph Campbell
